HOUSEMAN ORIENTATION SESSION
In line with to increase the membership of SCHOMOS, SCHOMOS Penang had been engaging with the new houseman during their Orientation session. This session was not held earlier this year due to the SOP implementation with regards to COVID-19. Two talks on “Why Join MMA” was given to a group of houseman on 12th of July 2021 (25 people) and 11th of August 2021 (55 people)
The role of MMA and SCHOMOS as the current most relevant professional platform for Doctors in Malaysia was explained to this new doctors
CODE BLACK AND BLACK MONDAY CAMPAIGN
The Code Black campaign was successfully carried out mainly at Hospital Pulau Pinang without much interference from the State and Hospital senior management. Many departments observed this solidarity and express their support for the junior doctors.
On Black Monday (12th July 2021) many of the Health Care workers turned up in black attire and supported this campaign. Everyone went to work and carried out their responsibility as usual. No any untoward incident took place on that day.
MEETING WITH THE PENANG STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT (JKN PP)
On Tuesday 6th July 2021, SCHOMOS Penang met the State Health Director, Dato Dr Asmayani Khalib at the State Health Department at Jalan Residensi.
MMA Penang was represented by it's Chairman Dr S. Indran, Vice Chairman Dr Kisheaan Devarajan and SCHOMOS Chairman Dr Divagar Varatha Raju.
The State Health Department was represented by the State Health Director, Deputy State Health Director (Medical) Dr Nur Aslina Bahakodin, Deputy State Health Director (Management) Mr Velan Supramaniam and Finance Division Head En Shaffirul Amree.
The meeting was fruitful as various healthcare issues were discussed. Both parties acknowledged the need for more engagement from time to time to tackle many ongoing issues.

MMAF SHOPPE COVID-19 FUND
On the 5th of February 2021, MMA Penang Branch officially handed over 22 infrared thermometers and 4 Rossmax bought via the Malaysian Medical Association Shoppee Fund to the Penang State Health Department.
The State Health Department was represented by The Deputy Director of Health (Public Health) Dr Marina Binte Kamaruddin and Dr Hartini.
MMA Penang Branch was represented by Chairman Dr Indran Saminathan, Secretary Dr Saraswathi Bina Rai and SCHOMOS Chairman Dr Divagar Varatha Raju.
